BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans slams 'unfair' show and demands change

Wynne Evans has discussed his "theory" as he demanded a change to BBC Strictly Come Dancing to make the show "fair". The GoCompare star has hit out two weeks on from "grope"-gate - as he returned to It Takes Two on Monday night.

During their appearance, Wynne's co-star and pro partner Katya Jones, the Russian-born pro, admitted that rehearsals for their slapstick dance where ‘things went wrong’ actually went awry for real. Katya said: “Storytelling for us is something that really comes natural for us."

Speaking to Fleur East, Katya - who was at the centre of the hand row with Welsh crooner Wynne last week - added: "To be honest with you on Saturday dress run, I know we wanted things to go wrong but they didn’t go wrong, they went wrong wrong.”

Wynne added: “It was like a disaster. The door handle was meant to come off in my hand. Somebody thought it looked a bit loose so they stuck it extra hard, so I pulled it and the entire doorframe started falling. It wasn’t hilarious it was terrifying.

“I oiled my shoes so none of the toilet paper stuck to it. Everything went wrong it was a disaster.” Katya added: “You surprise me every Saturday while I’m dancing.” Wynne replied: "I am a fat man going fast around the floor, right?

"I've got this theory, that all the pro dancers, like Jockeys, should be wearing weights, to make them the same weight as me. Then the competition would be fair!" The pair danced a bouncy quickstep to “Mr Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra, which saw the Welsh singer finished with a mayonnaise blob left on his head, and Jones cleaned it off.

Evans followed this by apologising for a “joke” that saw Jones move Evans’s hand from her waist last week. Judge Anton Du Beke said “it’s a lovely show, when you dance”, while Motsi Mabuse called it “exquisite” on Saturday night.

Jones held Evans’s arm as the pair received 33 points. However, controversy aside, many viewers were puzzled at the positive score that the pair received for what was mostly a comedy dance.
