Samsung Might Scrap the Galaxy S26 Pro Name — But Don’t Take It as Fact Yet

by · Android Headlines

Based on the latest string of rumors, Samsung is all over the place when it comes to the Galaxy S26 series launch. The latest rumor claims that the Galaxy S26 Pro is not coming after all. Samsung will allegedly revert to the original name, the Galaxy S26.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro name could be ditched after all

This rumor comes from SamMobile. It follows a report that claimed that the Galaxy S26 Edge is not coming either. Samsung plans to use the Galaxy S26+ name instead. Poor sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge are said to have something to do with that.

So, in the end, we could get the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, the same names as last year. Alternatively, the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra could arrive.

The designs that we’ve exclusively revealed will be used, though, based on everything we know up to this point. The names of the three phones are still up in the air, however.

Speaking of the Galaxy S26 aka Galaxy S26 Pro, that phone is said to arrive with a completely unchanged camera setup. It will use the exact same cameras as the Galaxy S25, unfortunately. That phone was long overdue for an upgrade, let alone its successor.

The January 2026 launch is expected

All three of these smartphones are expected to arrive in January 2026, unless something changes. Samsung has been announcing its flagship Galaxy S series smartphones in January for years now.

The company is expected to use both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Samsung Exynos 2600 processors for these three smartphones. We’re still not sure what SoCs will be used paired with what smartphone, and in what regions, though.

Based on what we’ve seen in the past, at least the Galaxy S26 (Pro) and Galaxy S26+/Edge will use the Exynos 2600 in Europe. Things could be different this time around, though, if Samsung opted to change its strategy.
