Liverpool’s perfect week continued with a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday.

Reds welcome back Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz to the starting eleven, with Andy Robertson and Alexander Isak dropped and Mohamed Salah back in the match day squad and named on the bench.

The reigning champions who have been under the weather in recent times and buoyed by a late win midweek in the UEFA Champions League looked for a head-start.

Lanky forward Hugo Ekitike provided the perfect start for the host when he thumped in a loose ball from the area in the very first minute of the clash.

Brighton, who have had a topsy-turvy tenure, fancied a route back but faced a determined Reds.

The latter were required to shuffle matters early in the second half and brought on Salah in place of the injured Joe Gomez.

Ekitike haunted the Seagulls once more and doubled the lead with a stern finish in the middle of the second half from a corner by Salah.

Chelsea 2-0 Everton

Chelsea got back to winning ways and remained in the top-four on the league table following a 2-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Four inclusions were shown by the Blues from their last match with Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Alejandro Garnacho and Cole Palmer installed.

Chelsea hit the ground running after the opening exchanges when Palmer combined with Gusto to apply a smart finish from a promising position.

Enzo Maresca’s boys upped the ante on the cusp of the interval when Gusto switched roles to bulge the net from a clever angle.

The Toffees attempted a response much of the second stanza, but the Blues held out and returned to winning ways.
