Pirates fan reacts to MTN8 final disappointment

In this edition of Supporters Forum, Orlando Pirates supporter Oupa Mofokeng speaks about the club's painful MTN8 defeat at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The 2-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns saw the Buccaneers being denied an opportunity to lift a fifth MTN8 trophy in a row.

They were stopped dead in their tracks by a Masandawana outfit that were well worth their victory considering the number of clear-cut opportunities created by both sides.

"It didn't go the way we expected. We can't blame the coach, we can't blame the players, i-game nje isihlulile [we just didn't perform]," said Mofokeng.

"The first goal, the way it was scored so early in the game, I could tell it was not going to be our night. We were hoping to equalise. Normally, when a goal is scored so early in a game, you don't equalise.

"We did get a penalty that could have brought us back into the game, but it was not meant to be, as Ghampani Lungu failed to convert. But I can't blame the coach and the players; it's a wake-up call for us as Pirates. It shows us how far we are when it comes to our opponents.

"The game was fair and square. I know Sundowns players were a bit rough, but overall, the game was against us. Nothing came together on our side as far as performance was concerned," he added.

The Buccaneers now turn focus to league duties, where they have a clash against TS Galaxy at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday (19:30).
