Newly-elected president Florentino Perez has gone with a familiar face by bringing in Jose Mourinho.
"The Board of Directors of Real Madrid C.F., meeting today, Thursday, June 11, and presided over by Florentino Pérez, has agreed to appoint José Mourinho as the first team's head coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029," the club said in a statement.
"José Mourinho will join Real Madrid on July 13, the day preseason begins."
Mourinho will be tasked with getting Los Blancos back among the Europe's elite, as they try to stop rivals FC Barcelona from winning a third successive LALIGA title.
The Portuguese tactician did win one league title during his first stint with the club, but he will also look to claim his first UEFA Champions League triumph in Madrid, having only reached the semi-finals with Los Blancos previously.
