Wuchang Sequel in the Works at New Studio Formed by Original's Creator

New developer and publisher believe in the IP

A sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is now officially in development despite the erasure of Leenzee, the first game's developer.

Reports earlier this year suggested much of the original team was disbanded and laid off after it refused to switch to other outsourced projects and support work. Director and producer Xia Siyuan was said to be fired from the company.

Since then, publisher 505 Games has acquired the Wuchang IP rights and, as of today, has officially revealed an all-new studio set up to make the sequel. The team is called Indolphinity, and Xia Siyuan has returned to lead its efforts.

Indolphinity will lead the "creative development" of the follow-up while 505 Games funds and publishes it. Together, the two firms "reaffirm their shared belief in the long-term potential of the WUCHANG franchise and their joint commitment to preserving the authenticity and cultural identity of the IP. All future creative development will remain firmly rooted in China through the close collaboration between the original creator and 505 Games, ensuring continuity of vision, quality, and execution."

On the sequel announcement, Xia Siyuan said: "We are delighted to embark once again on a deep collaboration with 505 Games under our new studio banner, Indolphinity. As a homegrown development team made up of Chinese creators, we have always believed that a rich cultural heritage is the essence of our games and their competitive strength. 505 Games’s respect for the creative process and its genuine understanding of developers’ needs are perfectly in tune with our own values, and this shared vision gives us confidence in the long-term future of the series."

I didn't think the first Wuchang game was all that good, awarding it a 6/10 at the time of its release. However, the title did attract a fanbase that saw it go on to have over five million players. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers released straight into Xbox Game Pass and joined PS Plus Extra in May. A second attempt at the formula could result in a considerably better game.

I wonder if government forced censorship will be a part of this one as well.

I don't know how I feel about the first game, it had it's good moments but everything was just mid, maybe it's just me...

Well I'm stoked, I loved the first game, no soulslike is perfect, but this one i felt hit all the right notes, looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.
