Sony's Spider-Man Games Enjoy Player Boost on Back of Brand New Day's Box Office Success
Bring home the bacon
by Sammy Barker · Push SquareSony’s various Marvel’s Spider-Man games are enjoying a renaissance on the back of new movie Brand New Day’s outrageous Box Office success.
While we don’t have player numbers for PS5, Steam data shows Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have all enjoyed increases in concurrent players this past weekend.
In the case of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, it enjoyed its highest peak concurrents since its launch on PC in 2022, peaking at around 16k players on Sunday. It’s a similar story for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which maxed out at about 12k this weekend.
On the PS Store, Insomniac’s sequel has risen to about 30th place on the best-sellers list, while the limited install base of PSNProfiles pegs it about 15th in terms of most played games. All of these represent relatively recent rises aligned with the new Tom Holland picture.
So it’s clear the movie is having a positive impact on the games, although we’ll likely get more concrete information courtesy of Circana and Sony’s own PS Store sales charts later in the month.
Still, this synergy between films and games is clearly what Sony has been working towards, and the movie’s billion dollar opening weekend looks set to have a very positive impact on PlayStation as well.
I wonder if it’ll also help lift Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which is due out later this week.

And people were complaining the movie's box office results have nothing to do with gaming...
MTS and Wolverine will almost certainly benefit from it.
I think the games are wierd, because they handle some Spider-Man elemets to perfection, but others they drop the ball on. Venom upseted me the most.

Hopefully they fix SM2 as the last patch broke it. Constant flickering and lighting issues and the BND suit is half assed with the wrong texture compared to the actual suit and is also broken itself with clipping and other issues.
