Jack Eichel breaks his 10-game goal-scoring drought to tie the game with 10:45 remaining in the third period.
Eichel was given room in the right faceoff circle and he fired a shot that beat Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood to the stick side and off the inside of the far post.

McNabb not on bench

Hart scrambles to make save
Carter Hart left his crease to poke-check the puck away, but it went to Avalanche forward Logan O’Connor, and Hart had to hurry back into position to make the stop.

Stars out for both teams
The Vegas Golden Knights will have to try to take control of the Western Conference Final without captain Mark Stone, as he’ll miss Game 2 against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday, coach John Tortorella said.
Stone took part in the Knights’ optional morning skate at Ball Arena but remained on the ice afterward skating with skills coach Sean Farrell. This will be his fifth straight game missed.
Colorado will have to try and even the series without defenseman Cale Makar, who will also miss his second straight game with an upper-body injury.
Makar was a full-contact participant in practice Thursday and skated with his team Friday morning, but coach Jared Bednar ruled him out.

Knights need to improve in Game 2
Game 1 hasn’t been an issue for the Vegas Golden Knights in the playoffs. It’s the follow-up game — the response — from the other team that’s challenged them.
The Knights are 10-10 all-time in Game 2, and they’re expecting an answer from the Colorado Avalanche heading into Game 2 of the Western Conference Final.
Knights thriving away from home
Golden Knights coach John Tortorella reiterated on Thursday that the Knights can be better in several phases, that they must raise their level of game.
This much is also true: It’s easier to win on the road when you have Brett Howden playing as he is.
The forward scored again Wednesday and now has goals in six straight road games. The Knights are 5-2 away from T-Mobile Arena this postseason. Yeah. Those loud opposing crowds aren’t doing much damage to their psyche.
