Faces in the crowd
The Philadelphia 76ers’ newest star was in Las Vegas on Saturday. Jaylen Brown arrived at Cox Pavilion to watch his new team face the Pacers.
Brown was acquired by Philadelphia in a trade with Boston that sent the five-time NBA All-Star to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George and draft picks on July 1. The Celtics received two future first-round picks (2028 and 2031) and two future second-round picks (2028 and 2030).
Brown was joined by 76ers coach Nick Nurse as the coach and team officials presented Brown with his 76ers jersey.
Over at Thomas & Mack Center, two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller stopped by to watch a rematch of June’s NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Miller was in Las Vegas for his annual Sack Summit.
Rapper JaRule also arrived at Thomas & Mack to see the Spurs and Knicks and exchanged pleasantries with Miller.
During Saturday’s opening game — Miami and Orlando at Cox Pavilion — Basketball Hall of Famer and 1975 NBA MVP Bob McAdoo was honored with the 2026 Tex Winter Assistant Coach Lifetime Impact Award.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and former Heat forward and hall of famer Alonzo Mourning were in attendance at Cox Pavilion to see McAdoo be honored.
Fourteen-year NBA veteran Jason Richardson was also at Cox Pavilion to see his son, Jase, score 15 points in the Orlando Magic’s 93-88 win over the Heat.
