James Ransone’s widow, Jamie McPhee, has broken her silence following the actor’s heartbreaking death and thanked him for “the greatest gifts” in their kids.

The actor was best known for his portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka in The Wire, as well as Eddie Kaspbrak in the recent It: Chapter Two.

According to TMZ, the actor died from an apparent suicide on Friday, as reported by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.

Taking to Instagram, Jamie wrote in a touching tribute to her late husband: “I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again.”

“You told me…I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me – and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts – you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”

Following his passing, Jamie has since added a fundraiser benefiting the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to her social media profile.

The couple share two children, Jack, six, and daughter Violet, four, and Jamie frequently shares snaps on social media of the sweet pair.

The actor was open in recent years about his deep personal struggles, speaking candidly about addiction and recovery, revealing in a 2016 Interview Magazine profile that he got sober at age 27 after years of heroin use.

In the early 2000s, Ransone began making cameos in TV series including “Ed” and “Third Watch” before obtaining his breakthrough role in “The Wire.”

In all 12 episodes of the second season of the show, James portrayed Ziggy Sobotka, a gangster and dock worker.

Critics praised his portrayal, and some people on the internet even referred to him as one of their favourite show characters.

On a cast that includes Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Skarsgård’s brother, who plays the antagonist Pennywise, one homage in particular praised how his performance on It Chapter Two stood out.

Actor François Arnaud, a well-known cast member of the HBO Max series Heated Rivalry, was one of the people who offered their sympathies.

“RIP James Ransone,” François Arnaud wrote Sunday on Instagram. “Unique actor that I was continuously impressed and inspired by.”
