Watch Live: President Trump to arrive at DFW Airport ahead of RNC midterm convention

The convention will take place on Wednesday and Thursday and is expected to bring about 20,000 visitors to Dallas.

President Donald J. Trump is set to arrive in North Texas around 5 p.m. on Wednesday for the RNC midterm convention in Dallas.

Air Force One is expected to arrive at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at 4:45 p.m.

The president's departure from Washington D.C. was delayed after the inflatable slide was deployed on Air Force One. Trump initially stayed on Marine One while crews inspected the plane before taking questions from reporters on the tarmac.

Republicans are holding a two-day convention at the American Airlines Center, dreamed up by Trump, to rally his supporters for this year’s midterm elections.

Trump has said he wants to channel the kind of political extravaganza each party holds every four years to formally nominate a presidential candidate and showcase its vision for the country. There will even be a huge drop of balloons at the end.

Trump is scheduled to speak on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. On Wednesday, he's delivering a keynote address. On Thursday, he's scheduled to appear again after a speech by Vice President JD Vance.

Federal and local law enforcement agencies are preparing a large security presence around the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas ahead of the convention, which is expected to bring about 20,000 visitors to the city.

The Secret Service said large fences will be used to fortify the American Airlines Center. Bike racks and additional law enforcement officers will also be positioned around surrounding streets, and several roads in Victory Park are closed ahead of the event.
