Amsterdam readies for fourth Red Line protest as organizers expect tens of thousands

The fourth Red Line protest is set for Sunday in Amsterdam, with organizers expecting tens of thousands of demonstrators. Participants are calling on the government to sever military and economic ties with Israel.

The Previous Red Line demonstration drew around 250,000 people in October 2025. The Sunday march is being run by organizations including Oxfam Novib, Pax, Amnesty International, and roughly another 150 groups.

Left-wing parties are expected to join the march. Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen has rejected claims that the government is doing too little, citing the September ban on imports from Israeli settlements.

When announcing the protest in October, the organizations wrote in a press release that “the Dutch government has already wasted far too much time drawing a red line against Israel’s war crimes and an illegal occupation.”

Under law, “the Netherlands must maximize political, economic, and diplomatic pressure on Israel to end the illegal occupation of Palestine once and for all,” the organizations wrote. The country must also implement the rulings of the International Court of Justice, the groups added, and "do everything possible to secure accountability and punishment for crimes committed under international law. The Netherlands must also protect and support the international courts in The Hague.”
