John Eustace issues Derby County verdict as relegation fears deepen after Millwall heartbreak
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveJohn Eustace felt Derby County did not deserve to lose to Millwall after their relegation fears deepened with a 1-0 defeat at Pride Park.
Josh Coburn struck in stoppage time to claim all three points for the visitors after the striker had earlier seen a penalty saved by Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.
Derby had gone close to scoring themselves while the game was goalless when Matt Clarke's header smacked off the underside of the Millwall bar, hit a defender in the box and fell in the arms of Lukas Jensen.
The result, coupled with Hull City's win at Sunderland, meant for an unhappy homecoming for Eustace who was overseeing his first home game in charge since being appointed head coach.
Derby are now four points adrift of safety and picked up further injuries with David Ozoh and Clarke fresh additions to the casualty list.
Reflecting on the game, Eustace said: "I was really disappointed to lose the game because I didn't feel we deserved to.
"We probably didn't do enough to win it either. We were up against a really difficult team in Millwall who have not lost many games in the last 10 or 11.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match, but I was happy with the attitude of the boys. You can see the areas where we need to improve. It's very evident.
"That just comes from hard work on the training ground."
