Derby County survival hopes rocked by quadruple injury blow as striker undergoes surgery
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveDerby County have been rocked by the news that Lars-Jorgen Salvesen is out for the season after picking up a knee injury in training.
Head coach John Eustace confirmed the Norwegian striker fell in training on Tuesday and has since had to undergo surgery.
It is a crushing blow for the former Viking FK striker who only moved to Derby in January in an £800,000 deal.
But he is not the only issue that Derby have to worry about as three others players picked up injuries this week.
Ben Osborn (hamstring) is out for two months, while Ryan Nyambe (hamstring) and striker Kemar Roofe (hamstring) have also been added to the casualty list.
Speaking after the win over his old club Blackburn this afternoon, Eustace said: "Unfortunately, he (Lars) is going to be out for the season. He picked up a knee injury on Tuesday.
"He had surgery yesterday and has had his cartilage cleared out. He just had a fall in training and he is devastated.
"Ben Osborn picked up a hamstring injury and will be out for eight weeks.
"Ryan Nyambe will be out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury while Roofey pulled up on Friday with a hamstring injury as well.
"It's disappointing but we will make sure the group is ready to go again on Tuesday."
