On a per-share basis, the Medford, Oregon-based company said it had net income of $13.22. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $10.34 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $9.70 per share.

The auto dealership chain posted revenue of $9.95 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $9.71 billion.
