Eyal Zamir, a retired major general with 28 years of service in the Israeli military, will assume leadership of the military amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, alongside battles in Lebanon and dealing with airstrikes from Iran, Iraq, and Yemen.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have appointed Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir as the next military chief of staff, replacing Herzi Halevi.
