One Nation One Election monstrous, unconstitutional: Chidambaram to parl panel
Former Union Minister P Chidambaram opposed the “One Nation, One Election” proposal before a parliamentary panel, calling it “monstrous”, “unconstitutional” and “mindless”. He argued that curtailing legislatures’ five-year terms violates the Constitution’s basic structure. TMC’s Sagarika Ghosh also opposed the bills, while Padma awardees remained divided over simultaneous polls.
