A former carer has been jailed for eight years for her role in carrying out violent burglaries at the homes of seven elderly people whom she had previously looked after.

Precious Moyo (38) carried out violent burglaries on vulnerable pensioners with a knife-armed college student, Yamen Alhamada (20), the court heard.

Precious Moyo, 38, who lived at the Athlone Accommodation Center at Lissywollen, Athlone, Co Westmeath, was sentenced at Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on Tuesday.
