During a signing ceremony in Davos, on Thursday, the US President launched the new board - a body for resolving international conflicts with a $1billion price tag for permanent membership.

When it was announced, four months ago, the idea of a Board of Peace seemed wholly entwined with the future of Gaza.

The organisation is being seen as an attempt by Trump to rival the United Nations.

US President Donald Trump launched the Board of Peace, a new body for resolving international conflicts, at a signing ceremony in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, repeating his belief that a peace deal to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “is coming very soon.”

It was initially designed as an initiative to cement the Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

Egypt "announces its acceptance of the invitation and its commitment to fulfilling the relevant legal and constitutional procedures," the statement said, praising Trump's Middle East policies.
