At least 15 people were killed when a Bolivian military cargo plane carrying banknotes crashed while landing near the capital city La Paz, authorities said, prompting police to repel bystanders who were grabbing cash.

The plane crash landed on a busy avenue during a spell of bad weather in the city of El Alto, near Bolivia's capital La Paz.

The military cargo plane was carrying Bolivian banknotes which scattered on the highway upon impact. The police tried to disperse locals who rushed to grab the money.
