NEW YORK >> High-end department store conglomerate Saks Global filed for bankruptcy protection late on Tuesday in one of the largest retail collapses since the pandemic, barely a year after a deal intended to create a luxury powerhouse brought Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus under the same roof.

High-end department store owner Saks Global has filed for bankruptcy protection as it struggles under a mountain of debt.

The parent company of Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman struggled with debt, designers and customers in recent years.

Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Saks Global, the luxury retail parent company of Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, announced late Tuesday that it has filed for bankruptcy.
