RAF fighter jets are being sent to Poland to prevent another Russian incursion into Nato airspace.

Britain’s government has summoned the Russian ambassador in London following what it calls Moscow’s “unprecedented violation” of NATO airspace.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bulgaria, Eleonora Mitrofanova, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on September 15 following the deliberate violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones on September 10. At the meeting, the Director General for Political Affairs at the MFA, Gergana Karadjova, delivered a written demarche to the Russian ambassador.

France and Germany said they were helping to strengthen NATO ally Poland’s air defense after at least 19 Russian drones entered Polish airspace on September 10, severely raising tensions between the Western military alliance and Moscow.
