The searches took place after the former prince was sensationally arrested on Thursday on his 66th birthday and taken to Aylsham police station, where he was questioned for 11 hours.

With Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Peter Mandelson both arrested in recent days, calls are growing for the government to make public all files on the two men.

However, MPs were told the Labour government is unable to publish material that police need for their inquiries until officers are “satisfied”.

Chris Bryant said the documents will be published once police investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are satisfied.
