Investigators said they were also looking into a trip to the Philippines that the father-and-son attackers took last month.

Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid, 50, allegedly killed 15 people and injured 40 others after opening fire on a Jewish Hanukkah celebration on Sunday night.

Australia Beach Shooting: In a statement on Tuesday, the Telangana Police said that Sajid Akram is originally from Hyderabad, India. As per information available from his relatives in India, he had limited contact with his family in Hyderabad.

Australian police said both men had travelled to the Philippines last month, the father on an Indian passport and the son on an Australian one.

Sajid Akram, a gunman in the Bondi Beach shooting, had minimal contact with his Hyderabad family, who disowned him after his marriage. The family denies knowledge of his radicalisation, which investigators believe is unrelated to Indian influences.
