Police in southern India have arrested two men in connection with allegations of gang rape of an Israeli and a local woman.

Three male companions, who were with the women, were assaulted and then thrown into a canal near Hampi in Karnataka. While two of them managed to come out of the waters, the body of another was recovered this morning.

Three men on a motorbike approached a group and asked them for money - an argument followed and an American man and two Indian men were pushed into a canal before two women were gang-raped, say authorities.
