Comedian and actor Russell Brand has appeared in a UK court via video link from the US, charged with two further sexual offences, including rape.

Russell Brand, the former television presenter, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court via videolink today to face two charges of rape and sexually assaulting women in 2009.

In 2023, the 50-year-old was first accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse as part of a joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme, The Times and The Sunday Times

Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Two more women have accused actor Russell Brand of rape and sexual assault, and a judge in London on Tuesday granted Brand bail ahead of a Feb. 17 pretrial hearing.

The comedian and actor spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during the short hearing.

The two alleged offences took place in London in 2009, according to court documents.

The disgraced comedian, actor and host had already pleaded not guilty to five earlier charges — including two of rape — with a trial set for June.

The comedian and actor appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on a video link from the US accused of one count of rape and one of sexual assault. He had previously denied other charges of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault in relation to earlier alleged offences.
