The allegation made by Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that ghee adulterated with animal fat was used in the making of famous laddu and other prasadams of Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala is snowballing into major political controversy.

Denying the allegations of adulteration in ghee used for preparing Tirumala laddu, YSR Congress Party MP and former chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Y. V. Subba Reddy on Thursday offered to swear at the feet of deity to prove his honesty and challenged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to do the same.

TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy in a press conference claimed that the adulteration has been confirmed by a Gujarat-based livestock laboratory, on the ghee samples provided by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the famous Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple.

Lawyers representing the party requested the court if a sitting judge or a committee appointed by the High Court could investigate the claims made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
