Pakistan: Bilawal Bhutto Calls Imran Khan ‘Former Prime Minister’, Says People Have To Let Him Go

Ahead of the no-trust vote, Bilawal asserted that he will not accept “any kind of rigging” and said that the people have to let Imran Khan go now.

New Delhi: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday claimed that the days of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister are numbered and soon he will be expelled through the democratic course.

Addressing a public meeting in Dargai town of Malakand district, he said Imran Khan was now “former prime minster” as the opposition is set to defeat him during a no-trust vote in parliament, the Dawn reported.

“We would remove Imran through democratic process and would not use any undemocratic way, nor will we attack any national institution,” the PPP leader declared.

Earlier on Wednesday, he attacked Imran Khan remarking that he is a “rat” who is running away from the no-confidence motion.

The opposition leader asked Imran Khan to demonstrate his strength through a power show of 173-lawmakers in the National Assembly for the no-confidence vote.

“He calls us rats and is himself running away. You are a rat, Imran Khan,” Bilawal said during a PPP rally in Malakand, as reported by the Dawn newspaper.

Ahead of the no-trust vote, Bilawal asserted that he will not accept “any kind of rigging” and said that the people have to let Imran Khan go now.

“He [PM Imran] knows he can only win through the rigging. This is his last resort. But no selection will take place now. No one is ready to shake hands with you. People have to let this man go,” he said, news agency ANI cited the Dawn as reporting.

According to the PPP leader, the no-confidence motion slated to happen on Friday is a test for the democracy, neutrality, and federation of Pakistan, “We want to face this test democratically. We believe it is very important for the progress of Pakistan.”

He also targetted the Pakistan Prime Minister for using derogatory language for Opposition leaders and added that his language resembles that of a defeated man.

“You call Maulana Fazlur Rehman diesel but you have forgotten the price of diesel which has skyrocketed. You called Shehbaz boot polisher but you are not left with any more boots. You talk about Madinah from the same mouth you hurl abuses from,” the media outlet quoted him as saying.

Around 100 lawmakers from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) submitted the no-confidence motion before the National Assembly Secretariat on March 8, alleging that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government led by Prime Minister Khan was responsible for the economic crisis and the spiralling inflation in the country.

On Sunday, the National Assembly Secretariat issued a notification, paving the way for holding the key session on Friday.
