Russia has ordered Germany to close its Saint Petersburg consulate as diplomatic tensions escalate over alleged Russian attacks and hybrid warfare.

Russia has announced measures against Germany's "unfriendly actions" taken in protest over the attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August.

The tit-for-tat reaction comes after Germany said it is shutting down Russia's consulate in Bonn and its cultural center in Berlin.
