Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday refused to hear the appeal of right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who wanted his judgment of $1.44 billion overturned in his libel case brought by the families of victims of the Sandy Hook, Conn., elementary school shooting.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Tuesday to hear a challenge by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to a $1.4 billion judgment awarded to families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting in Connecticut over the Infowars website founder's false statements that the 2012 incident was a hoax.

Mr. Jones was ordered to pay $1.4 billion in damages to families who lost children in the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Mr Jones filed for bankruptcy in 2022, and his lawyers told justices the ‘plaintiffs have no possible hope of collecting’ the entire judgment.
