A day after the US Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump's tariff blitz had been largely illegal, Trump fired back with another hike on import levies.

Feb. 21 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said he will raise global tariffs from 10% to 15% after the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that his emergency tariffs are illegal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the increase would take effect immediately and argued that many countries had been ripping off the United States for decades.

The US Supreme Court's ruling invalidated a number of tariffs that the Trump administration had imposed on Asian export powerhouses from China and South Korea to Japan and Taiwan.

Shares of a range of consumer-oriented companies rose Friday following the Supreme Court's ruling that struck down many of the Trump administration's tariffs.
