The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said in a statement on Wednesday that the 47-year-old batting great will join the team in Pakistan ahead of the Champions Trophy and will stay with Afghanistan at the tournament

The ICC Champions Trophy is set to return next month after eight years, with the last edition played in 2017. Pakistan are the hosts of the tournament even as Afghanistan are set to make their maiden appearance in the Champions Trophy.

47-year-old Younis has amassed 10,099 runs — a Pakistan record — at a healthy average of over 52 in 118 Tests.
