April 7 (UPI) -- Two French people held in Iran for nearly four years have been allowed to leave the country and return home, French authorities announced Tuesday.

Two French nationals, who spent more than three years in an Iranian prison on espionage charges, headed home from the war-stricken country on Tuesday, President Emmanuel Macron said.
