Zambia's sixth president, Edgar Lungu, has died at 68 after a career marked by bold leadership and controversy. Known for boosting Zambia's global standing, Lungu also faced criticism for heavy-handed security measures.

According to local media and his Patriotic Front party, Lungu collapsed while exercising at home in Lusaka and was pronounced dead at the Maina Soko military hospital.
