DAVOS, Switzerland >> President Donald Trump said today he had secured total and permanent U.S. access to Greenland in a deal with NATO, whose head said allies would have to step up their commitment to Arctic security to ward off threats from Russia and China.

Trump suggested to CNBC that the Greenland framework involves mineral rights for the U.S., as well as the administration's proposed "Golden Dome" system.

Trump said over the weekend that he would slap tariffs on imports from eight European countries in retaliation for moving troops to Greenland.
