A container ship was hit by three maritime drones about 21 nautical miles off Shabla in the Black Sea as defense ministers from Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey met in Sofia to discuss regional security, Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said. Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said Bulgaria would propose a joint security coordination mechanism with Romania and Turkey to respond more quickly to threats in the Black Sea, as the disabled cargo ship Khoryv drifted into Bulgaria’s maritime zone following a drone attack off the Romanian coast. Speaking before a trilateral meeting in Sofia with his Turkish and Romanian counterparts, Stoyanov said the three countries needed a common approach to protecting navigation and responding to further incidents involving commercial vessels.
