Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met survivors who were injured in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire at Max Hospital in Saket. The visit came a day after the blaze exposed that the hotel lacked a fire No Objection Certificate.

Delhi Police arrested hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj after the Malviya Nagar fire killed 21 people. The probe is now centred on alleged safety violations, illegal operations and evacuation failures at the property.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with the injured victims and their family members and took stock of their treatment by consulting the doctors attending to them.

At least 21 people were killed after a massive fire tore through a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar on June 3.

A morning fire in Delhi's Malviya Nagar killed 21 people, including six foreign nationals, at a hotel that should never have been five storeys tall. The building had no fire safety clearance and just one exit. Records show only 90 of Delhi's 1,000-plus hotels and clubs hold a valid fire NOC.  

The hotel's fire safety measures and evacuation arrangements are also under close scrutiny. Investigators are examining reports that the building had only one common entry and exit point, a factor that may have significantly hindered evacuation efforts as the flames spread through the structure.

Lavkesh Bajaj, owner of Flourish Stay B&B said he drove past his burning hotel instead of stopping by to help people rescue those trapped in the fire.

A fire at the Flourish Stay building in Malviya Nagar killed at least 21 people and injured several others. The toll from the single blaze has exceeded all deaths in Delhi's commercial-building fires last year.

Preliminary findings had indicated possible violations at the property, including claims that the establishment was registered under the Bed and Breakfast (B&B) category but was allegedly operating far beyond its permitted capacity. The devastating fire has claimed the lives of at least 21 people.
