The pilot of Air India's Phuket-Delhi flight that faced mid-air turbulence tested positive for marijuana in the confirmatory screening test.

Both pilots had undergone mandatory psychoactive substance screening after the August 4 incident. While the co-pilot’s screening did not raise a similar concern, the initial test of the Pilot-in-Command returned a result requiring further analysis.

The sudden drop threw passengers and crew who weren't strapped in, leaving 24 people injured: 20 passengers and four crew members. Videos and accounts shared online by passengers described people being thrown into the air and hitting their heads during the incident.
