July 20 (UPI) -- The United States launched strikes on Iran for the 10th night in a row Monday as U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran would pay for the deaths of three U.S. service members.

The U.S. military said late Monday it was carrying out its 10th consecutive night of strikes on Iran in a push to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States and Iran are again trading daily strikes around the Strait of Hormuz. The escalation is exposing the limits of Washington's airstrike-led strategy while raising risks for oil flows and diplomacy.

A tanker was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman as attacks on shipping intensified. The strike underscored the widening Iran-US conflict and renewed pressure on global oil supplies.

The U.S. and Iran are back to bombing every day in a bid to control the Strait of Hormuz.
