Sharad Pawar announces MVA consensus on contesting 200 seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections, dismissing impact of Haryana results.

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi said he has demanded 12 seats for the Maharashtra polls where Congress doesn't have a footing and is bound to lose if a candidate is fielded.

Abu Azmi said it would be wrong if any party announces a candidate without talking to the Samajwadi Party.

Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly will be held on November 20, and the results will be declared on November 23.

Speaking to reporters, Sharad Pawar said the results of Haryana polls, where the Congress suffered a drubbing at the hands of the BJP, will not have any bearing on the elections in Maharashtra.

The MVA, comprising the Congress, Sharad Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena, has also decided to release a list of the disputed seats to the heads of each party of the alliance to take a final decision on them.
