A Maryland federal judge blocked Donald Trump's new order narrowing birthright citizenship. The ruling said the Supreme Court had already settled that the children in the class are citizens at birth.

The US Supreme Court on June 30 rejected that initial effort to end birthright citizenship for children whose parents were not American citizens or legal permanent residents, known as green card holders.

The ruling raised concerns that babies already defined as citizens by the Supreme Court could have their citizenship revoked under an order the president signed in August.
