Ex-TMC MLA Nirmal Ghosh arrested for alleged involvement in the hurried cremation of RG Kar rape victim's body.

The former West Bengal lawmaker was arrested from Odisha's Sambhalpur on charges of destruction of evidence, criminal conspiracy, and forcing someone to carry out an act against their will, officials said.

The arrest comes days after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, while attending a programme to mark the second death anniversary of the doctor, directed the police to register a separate case into the circumstances surrounding the cremation.

Soro: A former Trinamool Congress MLA from West Bengal, Nirmal Ghosh, was arrested from a hotel in Simulia area of Balasore district, Odisha, on Thursday.
