Cape Verde began two days of mourning on Sunday after a bus crash on the island of Fogo killed 25 people, most of them children and teenagers.

LISBON, Sept 6 - At least 25 people, many of them schoolchildren and teenagers, were killed when a bus plunged into a ravine on Fogo, one of Cape Verde's islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa, national news agency Inforpress reported on Sunday. Cape Verde’s President Jose Maria Neves attended the funeral on Sunday of some of the victims of a bus crash on the country’s Fogo Island. The accident killed at least 25 people, most of them children and teenagers.

At least 25 people, mostly children and teenagers, were killed in a bus crash on Cape Verde's Fogo Island, public radio network RCV said on Sunday.

The children were on an excursion to a village inside a volcanic crater, organised by the school bus driver.
