April 25 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump has canceled the trip to Islamabad, Pakistan, in which Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner were planning to meet with Iranian officials.

According to Fox News, Trump said that he told the envoys not to get on an "18-hour flight" while they were getting ready to leave. He said that he does not want his officials to "sit around talking about nothing".

The White House said US envoys would visit Islamabad to engage in talks with the Iranian delegation, but Iran's state media said Foreign Minister Araghchi had no plans to meet with the Americans.
