Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Verizon Wireless is experiencing a widespread outage Wednesday with some customers saying their devices are stuck in SOS mode.

A widespread network outage affecting Verizon Wireless customers across the United States disrupted phone calls, text messages and mobile data service, leaving many users with limited connectivity.

In a sense this couldn't be a worse day for Verizon to experience a lengthy outage for its cellular service. T-Mobile just launched a new Better Value plan for families that boasts more perks than similarly priced options at both Verizon and AT&T. And Better Value arrives at the same time T-Mobile is emphasizing how easy it is to switch to its service from another carrier.
