Israel's security cabinet will convene this evening to discuss a possible Lebanon ceasefire, a senior Israeli official said, more than five weeks into a war with Hezbollah that spiralled out of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.

April 15 (UPI) -- Delegations from Lebanon and Israel have concluded negotiations in Washington, the first diplomatic talks between the neighboring countries in decades as they seek an end to their ongoing conflict.

Lebanon and Israel are holding direct diplomatic talks for the first time in decades. The meeting at the State Department began Tuesday following more than a month of conflict.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio mediated the talks between the two countries. Rubio said, it was a historic opportunity to end Hezbollah's influence, BBC reported.
