April 25 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump has canceled the trip to Islamabad, Pakistan, in which Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner were planning to meet with Iranian officials.

President Trump announced that he has called off plans for U.S. negotiators to travel to Pakistan for peace talks with Iran, saying that if the Iranians want to deal, they can pick up the phone.

It is also remain uncertain if or when Araghchi would return to Pakistan, as he is already scheduled to visit Russia and Oman for bilateral talks. Araghchi himself confirmed regarding his visit to Muscat and Moscow.
