by Arpit Sachdeva · CricketAddictorBangladesh lock horns with South Africa in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday at SuperSport Park in Centurion. The ongoing three-match series is currently leveled at 1-1 with one more ODI left to be played.
Bangladesh took the early lead after winning the first ODI by 38 runs. They were brilliant with in three departments. The likes of Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan and Yasir Ali all scored half-centuries. And as a result of that, they managed to score 314 runs in the first innings.
Bangladesh were equally brilliantly with the ball. Mehidy Hasan picked four wickets, Taskin Ahmed picked three, while Shoriful Islam picked two wickets. As a result of that, they managed to bundle out South Africa for 276 runs.
South Africa, however, made a rollicking comeback in the next ODI and won the game by 7 wickets. Bangladesh batted first in that encounter and managed to score 194 runs in the first innings. Afif Hussain, played a valuable 72-run knock off 107 balls, while Mehidy Hasan contributed 38 off 49 balls.
However, the top-order batters failed to hit the straps and, as a result of that, Bangladesh could only manage to achieve below-par total. Kagiso Rabada starred with the ball for South Africa as he picked five wickets for just 39 runs in 10 overs.
In pursuit of that, South Africa chased down the total in just 37.2 overs. Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock laid the foundation with an 86-run partnership for the opening wicket. Malan got out after scoring 26 runs in 40 balls but Quinton de Kock kept smashing the bowlers out of the park. He, eventually, got out in the 16th over after scoring 62 runs in 41 balls.
Besides, an unbeaten 58-run knock off 77 balls from Kyle Verreynne and 52-ball 37 from Temba Bavuma meant South Africa chased down the score with 7 wickets in hand. Heading into the next game, they would look to continue the winning momentum and claim the series. However, after winning the first game, Bangladesh will have the confidence to beat the hosts on Wednesday.
