Cheapest supermarket to buy your Christmas shop is revealed
by ZAC CAMPBELL · Mail OnlineAldi has been named the cheapest supermarket for the Christmas shop.
The total price of a weekly shop at the discount retailer came in at £97.89 to beat off competition from its rivals.
It was £10.56 cheaper than Tesco, £14.17 cheaper than Sainsbury's, and a whopping £25.43 cheaper than Waitrose, according to research by consumer group Which?.
Owing to the seismic cost difference between the items available at Aldi and Waitrose, anyone who frequents the latter can bag themselves a week's worth of shopping for free by switching to Aldi from now until Christmas.
Savvy shoppers could free up as much as £101.72 for the month of December by making the change.
The new research from Which? marks 13 months that Aldi has been consistently crowned the cheapest supermarket by the consumer champion.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: 'The Which? analysis confirms the only place shoppers can get Aldi prices - is Aldi.
'Christmas is top of the mind with shoppers now and many are looking to afford a great festive season without breaking the bank.
'It's reassuring that switching to Aldi will help shoppers save for the big day.'
It comes after the supermarket also announced the launch of a new initiative, which is urging shoppers to keep hold of their receipts if they want to be in with a chance of earning back the cash they spent.
Patrons of the popular supermarket could earn £100 on the big festive shop as part of its Big Advent Giveaway, which will see the brand offer to repay lucky customers for their shopping.
The supermarket revealed that they would be selecting one customer every single day up until Christmas Eve to earn back the cost of their festive feast.
All shoppers need to do, is keep hold of their receipt on any given day they pop in store.
