Revanth Aims at China and Japan, Not Andhra!
by Suresh · greatandhra.comTelangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a bold statement today, declaring that the state will benchmark its growth not against neighbouring Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu, but against major Asian economic powers.
“Our real competitors and role models are China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Telangana will attract massive foreign investments in the coming years,” he said, making it clear that Telangana’s ambitions extend far beyond regional comparisons.
The Chief Minister unveiled the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document at the Secretariat; a comprehensive roadmap to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
The plan aims to raise Telangana’s contribution to India’s GDP to 10 percent. The vision will be formally launched at a global summit on December 8 and 9 at Future City.
Prepared with inputs from NITI Aayog, ISB, and other expert bodies, the document outlines a people-driven strategy built around three interconnected economic regions:
1. CURE - Core Urban Region Economy:
Designed as a major services hub, this region includes plans to relocate polluting industries outside Hyderabad and enhance urban infrastructure.
Key projects such as Musi River rejuvenation and Metro Rail expansion aim to transform the city into a cleaner, modern metropolis.
2. PURE - Peri-Urban Region Economy:
Stretching between the Outer Ring Road and the upcoming 360 km Regional Ring Road, this zone will host major growth drivers like Bharat Future City, a new Greenfield Highway, bullet train connectivity, and improved access to Machilipatnam Port.
3. RARE - Rural Agriculture Regional Economy:
Focused on agriculture and rural development, this region aims to empower farmers as equal partners. With its strong suitability for seed production, RARE will promote a knowledge-based ecosystem by bringing global educational institutions and advanced agricultural technologies.
To support these massive ambitions, the government is prioritizing transport and logistics infrastructure.
The Chief Minister confirmed new airports for Warangal, Adilabad, Kothagudem, and Ramagundam, along with expanded highway and port connectivity—critical elements for attracting global investors.
Reddy reiterated Telangana’s intermediate target of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2034, stating that the 2047 plan is designed to push the state towards the ultimate $3 trillion milestone by India’s centenary of independence.
A special war room headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been established at Praja Bhavan to oversee preparations for the upcoming Global Summit.
The state is inviting a wide range of delegates, including national leaders, global diplomats, top industrialists, economists, sportspersons, media figures, and representatives from various sectors; over 4,500 in total.
Reddy himself will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to extend personal invitations to the event.
